An iconic camping blanket that’s durable, cozy, and comes in a variety of fun patterns and colorways.
Not as warm and packable as a down design.
Established at the end of 2014 Rumpl was a relatively newcomer in the outdoor market however, there is no doubt the fact that this brand from Oregon has helped to define an outdoor blanket we recognize it today. Their most popular model is called the Original Puffy, which checks all the boxes we search for in a durable and flexible design. The blanket comes with thick synthetic insulation, which is great for all-seasons use and a decently durable 30-denier shell, with a tough waterproof (DWR) coating that sheds light snow and rain and offers an amazing range of colorful patterns and colors. The features are neatly arranged as well, with the “Cape Clip” that lets you put the blanket on your shoulders, allowing you to move hands free as well as corner loops to secure it in the wind. Overall, it’s well-constructed and practical design that will keep you warm during cold winter evenings.
Rumpl’s Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket is quite roomy at 75 inches in length by 52 inches wide. However, people who are taller or have bigger build may want to move up to a bigger model such as Kelty’s Cordavan (76 by 66 in.) to get the most coverage. However you’ll gain more warmth for the weight by using a down-insulated option such as Rumpl’s Featherlite Down or down Puffy Blanket, however we love the waterproofing of synthetic filling for maximum coverage, and the price that is lower (the down versions are significantly more at $249 and $399 in comparison). The Original Puffy here has the broadest appeal, fitting whether you’re out camping, tailgating or simply curling up reading a book. It’s earned the top spot in our list for 2022.
